Company History

John Jump Trucking, Inc. was founded in 1957 by John and Darlene Jump hauling logs for the timber industry.  At one time the company owned and operated seventeen log trucks, including one self-loader, working in and around the Flathead Valley.  The company worked primarily for the Burlington Northern/Plum Creek logging operations until they sold the logging side of their company around 1984.  Shortly after that time, John added onto the company by purchasing two log loaders and started work with area helicopter logging operations.

After John's passing in 1997, Darlene took over full ownership of the company and Kevin Jump, John and Darlene’s son, took over managing the company’s operations as the president.  Over the next few years Kevin expanded the company further by adding more loaders and doing more work for helicopter operations.  He also added lowboy services and flatbed hauling into the mix.  Recently, the company branched out into chip grinding and chip hauling, therefore making the company more diverse.

Kevin Jump started working in the business for his dad as a mechanic throughout high school.  After graduating in 1975 he then started working for Royal Logging as an equipment operator running Cats.  Then in 1976 he broke his neck in an accident, but after his recovery, returned to work running cable machines and loading for eight years.  Kevin went to work loading and hauling for his dad in 1984.  After watching and working with his dad over the years, Kevin decided to branch out on his own by purchasing his own log truck in 1991 and then bought a log loader in 1994.  He continued working for himself until 1997 when John passed away.  Though Kevin took over the operations for John Jump Trucking, Inc., he still kept his own business going on the side and is still in operation today.

The spring of 2006 brought changes to his business when he purchased a pneumatic blower truck that supplies and applies landscape materials.  With this addition to the company, it has allowed a new working relationship to form between John Jump Trucking, Inc. and Kevin’s personal company where the two can work hand-in-hand with the pneumatic truck and the grinding and chip hauling operations.  This relationship will be another strong market for materials produced from John Jump Trucking, Inc.’s grinding operations.  Kevin chose to move forward in this area after researching and watching the interest in the biomass industry increase over past few years.  By diversifying both the operations of John Jump Trucking, Inc. and his personal business, Kevin will be able to expand opportunities in retrieving and utilizing previously less-marketable forest materials such as unused logging slash and fuel reduction materials by grinding and hauling the finished products to various markets through the Northwest.
